Are You Jealous When Someone Succeeds and Happy When They Fail?

life has no road map

"The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same." - Colin R. Davis

One thing that is certain is there is no map for your life. No one can tell you how to get from point A to point B when it comes to success and happiness.

Everyone’s situation is different.

Understanding that you can seek guidance from others but not a set of instructions on how to get to the place you seek to be can be liberating.

The key is to take bits of other people’s ideas and use them to determine your best course. There’s always going to be a need for a course correction. That's a fact.

If you’re criticizing someone who is putting themselves out there. Someone taking risks. Someone who is working on getting better. Someone who is shipping and accepting that failure will happen. Someone that understands perfection is a myth and a waste of time. Then you need to stop and look at yourself.

Chances are you’re not doing what they’re doing. Chances are you're jealous. Chances are you're unhappy with where you're at in life.

The reason you’re not doing what they’re doing is that you’re afraid. There’s no risk to being a ‘Monday morning quarterback”. It’s safe to criticize and point out others’ failures while you play it safe and aren’t stretching yourself.

However, once you decide to take action, to challenge yourself and become vulnerable, only then can you truly understand how much courage it takes and how much sweeter the outcome can be.
